Jason Williams suffers non-contact right knee injury in Big3 debut

The debut game of the Big3 league saw a fan favorite go down with a scary injury.

Next season’s games will mark the first MLB games played in Puerto Rico since 2010. MLB games were also played there in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

It is a dream come true for me to play in Puerto Rico, Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor said in a release. When the Montreal Expos played in Puerto Rico, I remember going to those games and thinking to myself, ‘I would love to be here playing in front of my country and people.’ Now that we have the opportunity next April, it is a dream realized for me.

Cleveland currently holds a 1 1/2-game lead over the Twins in the AL Central. Both teams are filled with young, entertaining players, which should keep them competitive again next season.

The 2017 NBA Draft has come and gone, so now basketball fans finally get a chance to relax, take a break and — oh right, free agency!

Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson won’t return this weekend after all

One regional began Thursday. BYU is the No. 3 seed in the Stanford regional and, because the Cougars athletic teams do not play on Sundays, that regional started a day early. Should BYU (37-19) reach the championship game of the regional, it would be played Monday, June 5.

The SEC, led by No. 3-overall seed Florida (42-16) and No. 4 LSU (43-17), has a tournament-high eight teams in the bracket. The ACC, led by No. 2-overall seed North Carolina (47-12), and Big 12, with No. 5 Texas Tech (43-15) and No. 6 TCU (42-16), have seven teams apiece.

When John Gibbons predicted that Troy Tulowitzki (Wednesday) and Josh Donaldson (this weekend) were returning from the disabled list, Blue Jays fans got excited.

Unfortunately for them, Gibbons was a little off in his predictions.

As it turns out, Tulowitzki (hamstring) will not be activated ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the Braves.

MLB.com reported that Tulowitzki may need a couple more days to recover.

Gibbons was also hopeful that Donaldson, who has been out since April 13 with a calf injury, would return to the lineup this weekend. But he said Wednesday that he jumped the gun on Donaldson, and that he will not be back this weekend.

On a positive note, Gibbons said Donaldson did not receive a setback in his recovery. He just won’t be ready by the weekend.

Tulowitzki should still return before Donaldson, but both players’ statuses remain up in the air at this point.

Carolina just got a lot tougher to score on.

Cam Ward and Eddie Lack were among the league’s worst goalie tandems last season. So Carolina jumped into the goalie market before it even opened, trading for Blackhawks backup goalie Scott Darling last Friday.

Darling, 28, would’ve been the most prized free agent goalie on July 1. He still could be: Carolina owns negotiating rights, but he could turn them down and test free agency anyway. But it’s hard to imagine Darling doing so. Between the penalty killing and elite young defense, the Hurricanes are one of the better spots for a new goalie to land.

Carolina just got a lot tougher to score on. He hit big shot after big shot. He kept the Wizards’ big men back on their heels and in foul trouble. He found open players through the seams of the defense, including an absurd wraparound pass to Terry Rozier who knocked down the three-pointer that tied the score at 110. He even came up with several defensive stops, going so far as to challenge 7-footer Marcin Gortat at the rim and force a kickout pass.

“Unbelievable, man. Unbelievable,” said Amir Johnson, shaking his head in disbelief and admiration. “He’s the heart and soul right now. He’s playing out of his mind.”

He retired after 20 years, and in truth, he may have stayed a little too long. He didn’t have much left in his final two seasons for the Clippers, although he flashed an occasional sign in their first-round series loss to Utah.

That he didn’t get to finish his career in Boston Cheap Team Basketball Jerseys was the cost of doing business. The Celtics got a cornucopia of draft picks to begin their rebuilding process and Pierce got the last year of his contract fully guaranteed by Brooklyn. It was a win-win that fended off a potentially difficult set of decisions. That didn’t make the last five years feel any less odd as he bounced from Brooklyn to Washington, and finally home to Los Angeles.

DeMar DeRozan saves the Raptors with an incredible dagger dunk

The Toronto Raptors tried — they really tried! — to blow the enormous 25-point lead they held over Milwaukee in the second half. In a closeout Game 6, the Raptors saw their lead be hemorrhaged slowly until the Bucks actually took a lead with a few minutes left in the game. It would have been one of the worst postseason losses in the history of the NBA, but DeMar DeRozan wasn’t going to have that.

This dunk put the Raptors up by five points and might as well have been the dagger, with the Bucks driving down on the next play and Khris Middleton throwing it out of bounds. Especially when you consider the circumstances, this was an amazing dunk. DeRozan really should have been given an and-one and a free throw off it, too, with the Bucks making contact on his head.

Cleveland was cruising until midseason, and finished the year just 23-23 in their final 46 games, including four straight losses to give away the No. 1 seed to the Boston Celtics. LeBron James, who somehow quietly averaged 26.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists, is trying to make the NBA Finals for a seventh consecutive season.

In the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs had another typically excellent season with 61 wins, trying to make the NBA Finals for the first time in three years. The Houston Rockets were an offensive juggernaut, making an NBA-record 1,181 three-pointers this year, and had the third-best record in the NBA with 55 wins. Houston was led by a resurgent James Harden, who will face off with fellow Cheap San Francisco Giants Jerseys MVP candidate Russell Westbrook — the first man to average a triple-double in 55 years — and Cheap Soccer Jerseys For Sale the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.

Brad Kaaya drafted in the 6th round by the Lions

Brad Kaaya’s 2016 season set career highs in yardage, completion rate, and touchdown passes as the mercurial passer left his stamp on the ACC. Now, the Detroit Lions are hoping his upward trajectory continues after making him the 215th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Kaaya burst into onto the FBS scene in 2014 after supplanting Jake Heaps as the starter in Coral Gables. While his first season in green and orange was a learning experience — the Hurricanes went 6-7 as he flipped between eye-opening performances and first-year gaffes — it set the foundation for a solid career. Miami went 17-9 his final two seasons with the program.

Kaaya brings several solid traits to the big leagues. He is a natural quarterback Quality Cheap Jerseys whose solid mechanics destined him to rise up draft boards through the Combine and team workouts. He throws well, with an NFL level delivery, and cycles through his targets quickly to make plays downfield. When he has time to throw, he’s accurate — which is why he’s done so well in Combine and pro day exercises.

He’s cut back on turnovers and throws a gorgeous deep ball, which makes him a favorite for big play receivers. Kaaya understands his reads downfield and makes the most of them when given enough time in the pocket. After three seasons in Miami’s pro passing offense, the transition to an NFL scheme shouldn’t be too difficult.

The No. 2 rookie QB on the field was also the second selected: Philadelphia’s Cheap Jerseys Ireland Carson Wentz (minus-12.9 percent DVOA). Makes sense, right? But the best rookie QB was the eighth taken; Prescott (plus-31.5 percent DVOA) was selected by the Dallas Cowboys near the end of the fourth round and was probably the Ravens Cheap Jerseys NFL’s third-best quarterback.

The worst semi-regular starter in the league was the No. 1 overall pick, Jared Goff.

Melo would spend the 2017-18 season rehabilitating his image as a player

Meanwhile, the players’ union complained to the league office about Phil Jackson’s comments about Carmelo and issued a sternly worded letter. Michele Roberts makes a great point: If players get sanctioned for demanding trades, why shouldn’t a franchise get sanctioned for publicly requesting a player to waive his no-trade clause (which is what Jackson essentially did)?

And finally: Here’s Adrian Wojnarowski’s excellent column on why Best Cheap Jerseys From China Kristaps Porzingis is so mad at the Knicks.

D-League Digest’s Adam Johnson reports that the Clippers, one of the last D-League holdouts, are in talks to add a squad in Ontario or Bakersfield next season.

And finally: Our condolences to Isaiah Thomas’s family. His younger sister was killed in a car crash in Washington on Saturday morning. That family has shown resilience in the face of tragedy before, but that does not make Chyna’s death any less tragic. Our thoughts are with them.

Melo could realize that his career is too short to risk wasting another year Cheap High Quality NFL Jerseys fighting with a 71-year-old man and waive his no-trade clause outright. That would allow the Knicks to move Anthony to whichever team offers the best package.

Melo would spend the 2017-18 season rehabilitating his image as a player — ramping up the defensive intensity, accepting whatever offensive role he’s given, sharing the ball — while planning to opt out in 2018 and become a free agent. This time, he signs where he can win.

The problem with this option is that Melo loves New York and really shouldn’t be expected to waive his no-trade clause just because his team president is being aggressively ornery. It’s unreasonable to suggest Melo should do this. It can only happen if he decides it’s best for his career.
